The boy and I will go over there and worship and then return to you.”

Hebrews 10:1-10
For the law is a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of those things. It could never by the same sacrifices, which they offer continually year after year, perfect those who draw near. Thus Aaron shall come into the Holy Place with a young bull for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering. He shall put on the holy linen tunic, and he shall have the linen undergarment on his body, and shall be girded with a linen sash, and shall be wearing the linen turban. These are holy garments. Therefore he shall wash his body in water and then put them on. He shall take from the congregation of the Israelites two male goats for a sin offering and one ram for a burnt offering.
Aaron shall offer his bull for the sin offering, which is for himself, and make atonement for himself and for his house. Then he shall take the two goats and present them before the LORD at the entrance of the tent of meeting. Aaron shall cast lots for the two goats: one lot for the LORD and the other lot for the scapegoat. Aaron shall bring the goat on which the lot of the LORD falls and offer him for a sin offering. But the goat on which the lot falls to be the scapegoat shall be presented alive before the LORD to make atonement with it, that it may be sent away as a scapegoat into the wilderness.
Aaron shall bring the bull of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bull of the sin offering for himself. And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from the altar before the LORD, and two handfuls of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the veil. And he shall put the incense on the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is over the testimony, so that he does not die. And he shall take of the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it with his finger on the mercy seat on the eastern side, and before the mercy seat he shall sprinkle from the blood with his finger seven times.
Then he shall kill the goat of the sin offering, which is for the people, and bring its blood within the veil, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it over and in front of the mercy seat. And he shall make atonement for the Holy Place, because of the uncleanness of the Israelites and because of their transgressions in all their sins, and so he shall do for the tent of meeting that remains among them in the midst of their uncleanness. Then he shall go out to the altar that is before the LORD and make atonement for it, and he shall take some of the blood of the bull and some of the blood of the goat, and put it on the horns of the altar all around. When Herod saw Jesus, he greatly rejoiced, for he had desired to see Him for a long time, because he had heard many things of Him, and he was hoping to see some miracle performed by Him. He questioned Him with many words, but He gave no answer. The chief priests and the scribes stood by, vehemently accusing Him. Then Herod, with his soldiers, treated Him with contempt and mocked Him. Then, dressing Him in a fine robe, he sent Him back to Pilate. On the same day Pilate and Herod became friends with each other, having previously been at enmity with each other.
Pilate called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people, and said to them, “You have brought this Man to me as one who incites the people. And behold, having examined Him before you, I have found no fault in this Man concerning those things of which you accuse Him. No, neither has Herod, for he sent him back to us; and indeed, nothing worthy of death has been done by Him. I will therefore chastise Him and release Him.” For he was obligated to release one man to them at the feast.
But they all cried out at once saying, “Take this Man away and release Barabbas to us!” This man had been thrown in prison for an insurrection in the city and for murder.
Therefore Pilate spoke to them again, desiring to release Jesus. But they cried out, “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!”
He said to them a third time, “Why, what evil has He done? I have found in Him no cause worthy of death. I will therefore chastise Him and release Him.”

Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are saying.” Immediately, while he was yet speaking, the cock crowed. The Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had told him, “Before the cock crows, you will deny Me three times.” And Peter went outside and wept bitterly.
The men who guarded Jesus mocked Him and whipped Him. When they had blindfolded Him, they struck Him on the face and asked Him, “Prophesy! Who struck You?” And many other things they blasphemously spoke against Him.
When day came, the assembly of the elders of the people, both the chief priests and scribes, came together and led Him away to their council, saying, “Are You the Christ? Tell us!”
He said to them, “If I tell you, you will not believe. And if I also question you, you will not answer Me or release Me. From now on the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”
They all said, “Are You then the Son of God?”
He said to them, “You truly say that I am.”
Then they said, “What further testimony do we need? We have heard it from His own mouth.”

Luke 1:68-79
Blessed be the Lord God of Israel,
for He has visited and redeemed His people,
and has raised up a horn of salvation for us
in the house of His servant David,
as He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets of long ago,

and from the hand of all who hate us,
to perform the mercy promised to our fathers
and to remember His holy covenant,
the oath which He swore to our father Abraham,

The Apostle’s Creed
Let us unite in this historic confession of the Christian faith:
I believe in God,
the Father Almighty,
