Prayer of thanksgiving
Blessed are you, Lord God of our salvation, to you be praise and glory forever. As once you ransomed your people from Egypt and led them to freedom in the promised land, so now you have delivered us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of your risen Son. May we, the first fruits of your new creation, rejoice in this new day you have made, and praise you for your mighty acts.
Blessed be God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Blessed be God forever.
The night has passed, and the day lies open before us; let us pray with one heart and mind.
Silence is kept.
As we rejoice in the gift of this new day, so may the light of your presence, O God, set our hearts on fire with love for you; now and forever.

Numbers 9:15-23; 10:33-36
And on the day that the tabernacle was erected, the cloud covered the tabernacle, the tent of the testimony, and at evening there was over the tabernacle the appearance of fire until the morning. So it was always. The cloud covered it by day, and the appearance of fire by night. When the cloud was lifted up from over the tabernacle, then after it the Israelites journeyed, and in the place where the cloud settled, there the Israelites camped. At the commandment of the LORD the Israelites journeyed, and at the commandment of the LORD they camped. As long as the cloud dwelt over the tabernacle they camped. When the cloud remained many days over the tabernacle, then the Israelites kept the charge of the LORD and did not journey. When the cloud remained a few days over the tabernacle, according to the commandment of the LORD they dwelt in their tents, and according to the commandment of the LORD they journeyed. When the cloud dwelt from evening until morning and the cloud was lifted up in the morning, then they journeyed. Whether it was by day or by night that the cloud was lifted up, they journeyed. Whether it was two days, or one month, or a long time that the cloud dwelt over the tabernacle, the Israelites dwelt in their tents and did not journey. But when it was lifted up they journeyed. At the command of the LORD they camped, and at the command of the LORD they journeyed. They kept the charge of the LORD at the command of the LORD by the hand of Moses.
They set out three days from the mountain of the LORD, and the ark of the covenant of the LORD went before them the three days’ journey, to find a resting place for them. And the cloud of the LORD was over them by day when they set out from of the camp.
And it was, when the ark set out, that Moses said,
“Rise up, O LORD,
and let Your enemies be scattered,
and let them that hate You flee before You.”
And when it rested, he said,
“Return, O LORD,
to the multitude of thousands of Israel.”

Luke 4:38-44
He went out of the synagogue and entered Simon’s house. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was taken ill with a high fever, and they asked Him about her. So He stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. And immediately she rose and served them.
Now when the sun was setting, all those who had anyone sick with various diseases brought them to Him. And He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them. And demons came out of many, crying out, “You are the Christ, the Son of God!” But He rebuked them and did not permit them to speak, because they knew that He was the Christ.
When it was day He departed and went into a remote place. And searching for Him, the people came to Him and tried to prevent Him from leaving them. But He said to them, “I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also, for this is why I was sent.” And He was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.

Blessed be the Lord God of Israel,
for He has visited and redeemed His people,

The Apostle’s Creed
Let us unite in this historic confession of the Christian faith:
I believe in God,
the Father Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ,

He was conceived by the Holy Spirit
