Prayer of thanksgiving

Blessed are you, Lord God of our salvation, to you be glory and praise forever. As we behold your Son, enthroned on the cross, stir up in us the fire of your love, that we may be cleansed from all our sins, and walk with you in newness of life singing the praise of him who died for us and our salvation.

Blessed be God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Blessed be God forever.

But Jesus called them to Him and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. It shall not be so among you. Whoever would be great among you, let him be your servant, and whoever would be first among you, let him be your slave, even as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many.”

As they departed from Jericho, a large crowd followed Him. And behold, there were two blind men sitting by the road, and when they heard that Jesus was passing by, they cried out, “Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!”

The crowd rebuked them, that they should be silent. But they cried out even more, “Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!”

Jesus stood still and called them, saying, “What do you want Me to do for you?”

They said to Him, “Lord, let our eyes be opened.”

So Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him.

Now Pashhur the son of Immer the priest, who was also chief officer in the house of the LORD, heard that Jeremiah prophesied these things. Then Pashhur struck Jeremiah the prophet and put him in the stocks that were in the upper Gate of Benjamin, which was by the house of the LORD. On the next day Pashhur brought Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then Jeremiah said to him, The LORD has not called your name Pashhur, but “Magor-missabib.” For thus says the LORD: Behold, I will make you a terror to yourself and to all your friends. And they will fall by the sword of their enemies while your eyes will see it. Thus I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will carry them captive into Babylon and will slay them with the sword. Moreover I will deliver all the wealth of this city, and all its produce, and all the precious things; and all the treasures of the kings of Judah I will give into the hand of their enemies who will destroy them, and take them, and carry them to Babylon. You, Pashhur, and all who dwell in your house will go into captivity; and you will come to Babylon, and there you will die and will be buried there, you and all your friends to whom you have prophesied lies.

John 11:1-16

Now a man was sick, Lazarus from Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. This was Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick. So the sisters sent word to Him, saying, “Lord, he whom You love is sick.”

When Jesus heard this, He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified by it.” Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. So when He heard that he was sick, He remained where He was two more days. Then after this He said to the disciples, “Let us go into Judea again.”

His disciples said to Him, “Rabbi, the Jews were just trying to stone You. Are You going there again?”

Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks during the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. But if anyone walks during the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.”

After He said this, He said to them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep. But I am going that I may awaken him from sleep.”

Then His disciples said, “Lord, if he is sleeping, he will be well.” Jesus had spoken of his death. But they thought that He was speaking of getting rest through sleep.

So then Jesus plainly told them, “Lazarus is dead. And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, so that you may believe. Nevertheless let us go to him.”

Then Thomas, who is called Didymus, said to his fellow disciples, “Let us go also, that we may die with Him.”
