Prayer of thanksgiving
Blessed are you, Sovereign Lord, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to you be glory and praise forever. From the deep waters of death, you brought your people to new birth by raising your Son to life in triumph. Through him, dark death has been destroyed, and radiant life is everywhere restored. As you call us out of darkness into his marvelous light, may our lives reflect his glory and our lips repeat the endless song.
Blessed be God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Blessed be God forever.
That this evening may be holy, good, and peaceful, let us pray with one heart and mind.

As our evening prayer rises before you, O God, so may your mercy come down upon us to cleanse our hearts and set us free to sing your praise now and forever.

Deuteronomy 18:9-22

There must not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or who uses divination, or uses witchcraft, or an interpreter of omens, or a sorcerer, or one who casts spells, or a spiritualist, or an occultist, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination to the LORD, and because of these abominations the LORD your God will drive them out from before you. You must be blameless before the LORD your God.
For these nations, which you shall possess, listened to soothsayers and to diviners, but as for you, the LORD your God has not permitted you to do so. The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet from the midst of you, of your brothers, like me. You must listen to him. This is according to all that you desired of the LORD your God in Horeb on the day of the assembly, saying, “Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, nor let me see this great fire anymore, so that I do not die.”
The LORD said to me, “They have done well in what they have said. I will raise up a prophet from among their brothers, like you, and will put My words in his mouth, and he will speak to them all that I command him. It will be that whoever will not listen to My words which he will speak in My name, I will require it of him. But the prophet, who presumes to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who shall speak in the name of other gods—that prophet shall die.”
And you may say in your heart, “How can we know the word which the LORD has not spoken?” When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not occur or come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. 1 Peter 2:1-10
Therefore put away all wickedness, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking. As newborn babies, desire the pure milk of the word, that by it you may grow, if it is true that you have experienced that the Lord is good.
Coming to Him as to a living stone who is rejected by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up into a spiritual house as a holy priesthood to offer up spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For also it is contained in the Scripture,
“Behold, I lay in Zion
a chief cornerstone, elect, precious,
and he who believes in Him
shall never be put to shame.”
Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious. But to those who are disobedient,
“The stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone,”
and,
“A stone of stumbling,
and a rock of offense.”
They stumble, because they are disobedient to the word, to which also they were appointed.
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may declare the goodness of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. In times past, you were not a people, but now you are the people of God. You had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Luke 1:46-55
My soul magnifies the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.

The Apostle’s Creed
Let us unite in this historic confession of the Christian faith:
I believe in God,
the Father Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

The Lord’s Prayer
Rejoicing in God’s new creation, as our Savior taught us, so we pray
